Well, I normally don't like surprises, but this morning I went in to the kitchen to get my coffee and by my coffee cup was a note from Rob. It said that he was trying to wait until Saturday morning, but that he guessed he would go ahead and tell me, but that we were going to the coast for a night away on Saturday night. What a surprise..and all before my morning cup of coffee. I am so glad.. we haven't been away just the two of us since last May (2007)..so it is time. I think it will be fun!
Another surprise this morning... all before leaving the house...this one not so good!! I went out and as usual was running a little behind, yelling, "we're gonna be late" to the kids. And, I realize that it is garbage day. So, I tell them to get in the car. I go back in to grab the bag out of the house, and then see this big black bag in the can in our garage.. and it is spilling over, so I think HUM! maybe I should get that one too. There is no telling how long this bag has been there as we usually don't use it for much garbage, but occasionally. Anyways, it was full..so it needed to be done. I grab the plastic black bag out of the can, and I notice something moving in the bottom of the can. It was dark in our garage, as this is all before 7am. So, I am curious and go and turn a light on so I can see. I was thinking, BIG ROACH, maybe.. But, NO!!! Much to my surprise, I found 5 or more baby RATS.. you heard it RATS..okay, maybe they were mice. But, UGH!!! In my garbage can. I run with the can out of the garage, and think what do I do? what do I do? At this time, a LOUD scream came out of me from way down deep.. because it just freaked me out. Austin and Ella who are in the car, are going WHAT? What is it? I am like, "it's okay..it's okay." Because I am still trying to think about what I need to do. I am sure our neighbors thought something really bad was happening with my scream.. Needless to say.. and keep this in mind, I love animals, just not rats! But, I tossed the little can into the Big Can that was going to the street, Emptied it there, and CLOSED THE LID, as fast as I could. They will be so much happier in a DUMP somewhere where they can grow big and FAT.. just so long as they are not in my garage! I got back in the car, where I yelled a couple of more times.. and explained to Austin and Ella who at this point were a little more than concerned. We found a snake in the garage not too long ago, so I am sure that is what was on their mind. So, then, off to school we were!!
So, maybe I should say that I like good surprises.. but the bad ones I could do without! And, I am really looking forward to my night away!
